After a very long time, I actually enjoyed the weekend. I mean really really enjoyed it !

I went to Lifestyles ‘08 at Expo Centre Karachi with Omair, and boy was there a crowd…

First things first, we actually went there for the dog show, since I didn’t have my own cam, I borrowed Omair’s camera from time to time. I also met some other photographers there, whom I didn’t know before. It was fun hanging around with these folks.

Also since we didn’t have a proper invite to enter the halls, we used the cheat sense to get inside. Boy Khi ppl are friggen clever :P

Any how, we didn’t find much interest inside, so we dragged our sorry rare-side bottoms back outside in the blazing hot sun !

Tell you the truth, that was a better idea to see some dog action and otherwise, we did enjoy some folk music there, with some folks dance and stuff…

I m waiting for the pictures, as soon as I collect them from Omair, I’ll post them online too :)

Recently the web was a buzz with the news of Microsoft’s giant 46.6 million US dollars bid for Yahoo. HAHA, that would mean they would own flickr.. haha, these people invented MS-Paint, what do you think would have happened ? :P Besides, what would they name it? MS-Flickr ? Bull shit ! :P

So Yahoo actually rejected the offer, an unsolicited open ‘get rich quick’ kind of offer, but in all my honest opinion, they did good.

Microsoft’s attempt was to compete Google Inc. but in doing so, I m pretty sure they would’ve done much damage to the already damaged Yahoo, Yahoo is now considering Google.. WOW !

Any how, what I read now is even ironic, Yahoo’s shareholders are suing yahoo for not being sold :P haha !

Geek life track is a random WOW !

This is some of the text that was sent in to everyone from a guy “Ahmed” from our company’s Quality Assurance department. It’s worth a read.

    Case 1 : NASA
When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the pens wouldn’t work at zero gravity (ink won’t flow down to the writing surface). To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million. They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C. And what did the Russians do…?? They used a pencil.

Case 2 : Japanese cosmetics company
One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the case of the empty soap box, which happened in one of Japan’s biggest cosmetics companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soap box that was empty. Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly line, which transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some reason, one soap box went through the assembly line empty. Management asked its engineers to solve the problem. Post-haste, the engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the soap boxes that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast but they spent a whoopee amount to do so. But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with the same problem, he did not get into complications of X- rays, etc., but instead came out with another solution. He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan on, and as each soap box passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out of the line.

    Moral
Always look for simple solutions. Devise the simplest possible solution that solves the problems :-).
LEARN TO FOCUS ON SOLUTIONS NOT ON PROBLEMS.

    Loved it :)

I hate how all these creepy/crappy face book application invitations pop in my fb account, I just hate it, but never mind, that’s not what I had to say.

What I really had to say is, our CTO might be thinking, how gay me, and H-N are…. :P

There I was working like a good old boy, and trying to concentrate on the solution, and then comes H-N, trying to kiss me.. I mean f**k you… hello… dude, stop it !

I actually was trnig to back him off, so I can concentrate and leave the fun for later maybe, H-N wouldn’t listen, and suddenly, come’s a sorry, and H-N leaves the room.. I m in shock, why, I rarely hear him say sorry, and that’s a big RARELY !

I look around and the company’s CTO (Chief Technical officer) is right beside me.. (me: ahem..umm.. sorry !, him: no problem..) woosh !

Any how, we get around what he came to talk about, and everyone makes fun of me and H-N the whole day… As if the story ends here…

We’re teasing each other (me and the staff) how I wouldn’t find another guy to marry :P and then suddenly out of no where pops the CTO again.. oh damn ! we laugh at our selves, really really loudly, and so does the CTO though not loudly, he just smiles !

We get about the day, I do my solution thingy, and run home.. oh and I ate kulfi too :P

Aight, that’s a fast, and excited post. never mind !

    Life's good

I am really happy right now, and I really mean that, why ? Well many reasons.. First it was mom’s birthday, got her a nice chocolate cake, and yes she loved it, oh I am such a nice kid (:P j/k).

I also had Fahd and Iraj visit me at work, which was nice, even though that break lasted not so long, but it was interesting. We probably will be doing a website/magazine together Inshallah.

I also found out the CTO at our work place has started a new blog Syntax Error, for those who don’t get the geek language, you should stay away from that, but for all the ‘cyber psychos’, like myself, you should visit it, I love how the guy writes man, it’s awesome.

And for the finale, my blog has been selected for a design award, which is awesome, you can find the link which awarded me on the right. :)

    Cheers.

Yes, I know it’s been some time, since I appreciated life, but any ways, better late then never…

I m having some good times at work and otherwise, I m considering buying another .net address specially for the blog, interesting isn’t? I think it is !

And since work has been challenging at work, that’s one reason why it’s fun. There’s no fun without challenges. Though one thing that I found out, is that one of my friends has broken up with their former better halves :P, yes it’s sad, but also good for them, and the other sad part is that one of our managers at work, broke one of their fingers. ouch.

Then one of my friends has got another pair of fun lives, yes he’s got twin sisters. That’s nice. :)

Also, I’d like to thank Asim Imtiaz from my work place, for making my life a little easier with all the tech stuff.. check him out on his website. He’s one funky fella !

I am not really well, have flu and feel tired, had slept almost the half day ! When I woke up, the day seemed to have passed, besides it’s was our assassinated former prime minister Benazir Bhuttos’ chelum, so I thought I had some free time..

Little did I think I would spend some of it designing a valentine card, and some of it for a small sticker kind of stuff I wanted for my room. The valentine card, is what you’ll not be able to see until the 14th, but just a hint, it has a nature theme attached to it !

Below is the sticker ‘kind of thing’ I was talking about:

Also I took the What does your writing say bout you quiz, here’s what it says :

What Your Handwriting Says About You
You are sometimes a very energetic person, but you are sometimes quite lethargic. You’re moody, prone to ups and downs, and you don’t have a lot of endurance. You range from very outgoing to very shy. You are a shape shifter who is very versatile. You adapt well, and you look at things from many angles. You are very detail oriented and meticulous. You are a careful thinker and a true intellectual. You need a bit of space in your life, but you’re not a recluse. You expect people to give you a small amount of privacy, and you respect their privacy as well. You are conservative, old fashioned, and a little stubborn. You are resistant to change. You are a good communicator. You work hard to get your ideas across effectively.

And I seriously have a very crappy handwriting !

I feel I should post this, just because, a few people do read the blog, maybe it could help them sometime, just maybe.

    You could save a life.

    STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters… S.T.R.

My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree.

She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ

If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance) They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don’t die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this… STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. RECOGNIZING A STROKE Remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a
bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions : S * Ask the individual to SMILE . T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg "It is sunny out today"). R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS . If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. NOTE : Another ’sign’ of a stroke is 1. Ask the person to ’stick’ out their tongue. 2. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved. ….and it could be your own…..

I thank my darling, for sending this to my email, I generally don’t email forwarded messages, hence I shared it on my weblog. :)

Yes sadly I lost my camera yesterday on my way home, some (insert offensive words here) stole it… (insert offensive words here)

It’s time I start saving for a camera now ! Will have to, I like photography, but now I lack the tool. DAMN !

Let’s hope I get enough money for that.

On the other hand, this Album ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ from Arctic Monkeys is awesome.
