Tafiti, is another Microsoft venture into the search realms. The first thing you know when you visit the tafiti page, is that they ask you to get the Microsoft Silverlight plugin, which is Microsoft’s alternative to the already successful Adobe Flash.
The search page itself looks nice and fancy, but not something I’d like to see on a search page, search pages are mean’t to be lean, mean and clean, for easy info retrieval, tafiti on the other hand, uses bulk of graphic data, which I don’t quite enjoy. Some of the graphics are indeed nice though !
Some thing’s I do like about the search engine is the ability to save the search results, incase you might need them later, which is something good, really good. Not only can you see the results, in a normal way, you could also switch to a tree view, which shows results on a tree, which I think isn’t as useful, the text overlaps, and makes is all jumbled.
The other nifty feature is you can divide the results into books, web, images, news, but that’s not new, instead they just make it appear on one page, without reloading the pages. simple.
I could say more about it, but it didn’t work much well for me, it’s in beta stage, and has bugs, and that is real bugs, had problems working !
Since the search is powered by Windows Live Search (formerly MSN search) it’s the same results you’re going to get that you would other wise get from Windows Live search, the only difference is the UI.
